Muscle Building Myths Debunked

Undeniably, many people fall for a lot of muscle building myths in their bid to get that sculpted physique in a hurry. There is so much misinformation out there that it pays to listen to muscle building experts who are NOT showing you the same rehashed workouts and nutrition advice that only work for bodybuilders who are blessed with perfect genetics. Unfortunately, many of these practices are not only potentially dangerous to your health but these can burn holes in your wallet as well. Some of these muscle building myths you should never fall for include:

The old adage “no pain, no gain” may give some trainees an ego boost, but its probably one of the most prevalent and potentially dangerous myths when it comes to muscle building. True enough, you do need to work out with a high intensity and sufficiently stress your muscles to cause muscle hypertrophy. However, it is also imperative that you allow your body adequate rest to recuperate in between workouts. Otherwise, you are guaranteed to suffer from muscular fatigue, strain and even muscle tears. Over training will also place a great deal of stress on the CNS which will further be detrimental to muscle building. A weak CNS will not be able to properly recruit muscle fibers so you will not be getting the most out of your workouts.

Here’s the deal. Pain is a very obvious sign that you are doing your exercises the wrong way. It is common to feel muscle burn and even episodes of tiredness after an intense workout session. But pain and soreness prior, during and after the workouts should never be your constant workout companion. In this regard, the only thing you will gain from pain is a trip to the hospital. Time away from the gym due to injury will be a setback both mentally and physically, so really make sure you are lifting with correct form and avoid over training.

Next, let’s talk about supplements. We always read in muscle magazines that muscle building supplements will get you there. The question is: where exactly? Many of these so-called bodybuilding supplements are not FDA approved and may even contain potentially harmful ingredients at lethal levels. The truth is that most muscle building dietary supplements are a waste of money. They may be downright harmful to your health and will not help achieve your goals faster. You would be better off subscribing to a balanced weight gain diet. The nutrients in a clean diet will improve your health and allow you to gain mass.
