The author of Sugar Buster claimed that by avoiding sugar and foods high in refined carbohydrates, dieters will increase their insulin sensitivity, lose weight and be healthier.  The author of sugar buster believes that insulin resistance causes obesity and that sugar is toxic.  A typical Sugar Busters contains an estimated 30 % protein, 40% fat and 30% carbohydrate.  Red Meat, poultry fish, dairy products, olive oil, nuts and selection of vegetables and fruits are allowed.  Carb such a sweet potatoes, wholemeal/grain breads, wholewheat pasta, brown rice are allowed in small amount.  Foods to be avoided are potatoes, carrots, and refined carbohydrates like white bread, pasta, rice and of course no refined sugar products are allowed in sugar buster.

 

Typical day's eating plan for Sugar Buster

  • Breakfast: Orange juice, hot oat cereal with skimmed milk or coffee
  • Lunch: Turkey sandwich with wholemeal bread and salad with light mayonnaise
  • Evening meal: Grilled pork tenderloin slices, brown rice, green beans; 12 whole fresh nuts
  • Snack: apple
  • Drink: Water, tea, coffee

Significant weight loss in the first 14 days if the diet is followed strictly.  Health benefits include lower cholesterol level and blood pressure which can be achieved if the diet is continued.

Sugar Buster Drawback

  • The diets is too low in dietary fiber.
  • Banning foods like potatoes and carrots is of little heath or slimming benefit.
  • There is little evidence that small amount of sugar in a balanced diet is bad for health.
